Macro Minerals

Nutrients with plastic and regulatory function of the body whose need is greater than 100mg / day, as important as vitamins, without them our body does not effectively perform the metabolic functions.

They are the minerals required in greater quantities by the body, are: Calcium (Ca), Phosphorus (P), Magnesium (Mg), Potassium (K), Sodium (Na), Chlorine (Cl) and Sulfur.

Other benefits:

- Training and maintenance of bones and tissues

- Enzyme activation

- Acts allowing blood clotting

- Muscular contraction

- Enzyme stabilizer and activator

- It acts on the secretion of hormones

- Helps in dental structure

- Regulates the water balance and acid-base

- It acts in the nervous synapse

- Helps immunity

- Antioxidant action

- Composes some organic molecules

- It acts in maintaining the osmotic balance

KNOW MORE:

Calcium — is the most abundant mineral in the body, about 99% is present in bones and teeth, the rest is in the tissues. It is well distributed between food of animal and vegetal origin, however, the calcium of vegetable sources undergoes the action of substances like oxalato and phytate that, reduce its absorption, being the calcium of animal sources more readily available.

- For the absorption of calcium, it is essential that there is also the presence of vitamin D.

- Foods: milks and derivatives, whole grains, nuts, soybeans and derivatives, dark green vegetables. IDR from 800 to 1500 mg

Phosphorus — is also vital for building bones and teeth, composes the structure of cells and is important in many biochemical reactions, such as in energy metabolism. The amounts of phosphorus and calcium need to be in balance with each other to perform their functions.

- Food: milks and derivatives, whole grains, legumes and meats. 800 to 1200mg IDR

Magnesium — is essential in muscle contraction and relaxation, it also participates in the immune system, in the formation of antibodies and in the activation of several enzymes.

- Foods: milks and derivatives, nuts, dark green vegetables, citrus fruits, bitter chocolate. 300 to 400 mg IDR

Chlorine — an important mineral involved in the digestive process, necessary for the production of gastric juice and enzymes, is in balance with sodium and potassium.

- Foods: cooking salt, processed foods, sodium and potassium sources. 750 mg IDR

Sodium — along with potassium regulates the body’s water balance. Influences the conduction of nerve impulses, muscle contractions and blood pressure.

- Foods: cooking salt, processed foods, smoked meats, etc. IDR from 1100 to 3300mg

Potassium — associated with sodium, acts on the water balance of the body, carries electrical current, acts on the transmission of nerve impulses, maintains heart rate and normal blood pressure.

- Foods: fruits, vegetables, milk and derivatives. 1875 to 5625mg

Sulfur — Component of two essential amino acids.

- Food: high in protein. IDR not established
